Anthropic Fellows Program 2026: Fully Funded AI Research Fellowship Anthropic has announced its highly competitive, fully funded Fellows Program offering a unique 4-month research opportunity in Artificial Intelligence. Job Title: Organisation: Anthropic Job Location: London, United Kingdom; Berkeley, California, United States; Remote (United States, United Kingdom, and Canada) Closing Date: Rolling Applications (No fixed deadline) The program provides approximately $15,400/month stipend, compute credits, and direct mentorship from renowned Anthropic researchers. Contract Type: Full-Time, 4-Month Fellowship Programme Programme Start Date: Expected to commence in late September 2026 (flexible start dates may be considered) Compensation: USD 3,850 per week (approximately USD 15,400 per month), GBP 2,310 per week, or CAD 4,300 per week, plus compute funding and research expenses Fellows can work in Berkeley, London, or remotely, contributing to pioneering AI safety, security, ML systems, reinforcement learning, and AI policy & economics projects. About the Anthropic Fellows Program The Anthropic Fellows Program is a fully funded four-month research fellowship designed to develop emerging talent in artificial intelligence research and engineering. The programme provides funding, mentorship, and access to cutting-edge AI research projects regardless of applicants’ previous research experience. Fellows will undertake empirical research projects aligned with Anthropic’s priorities, primarily using external infrastructure such as open-source models and public APIs, with the goal of producing publicly available research outputs, including academic papers and technical publications. More than 80% of fellows in previous cohorts successfully produced research papers. Fellowship Benefits Successful applicants will receive: • Four months of full-time AI research experience • Direct mentorship from Anthropic researchers • Access to shared workspaces in Berkeley, California, and London, United Kingdom • Opportunities to connect with the global AI safety and security research community • Weekly stipend of: • USD 3,850 • GBP 2,310 • CAD 4,300 • Compute funding valued at approximately USD 15,000 per month • Additional funding for research-related expenses • Potential opportunities for future full-time roles at Anthropic or other leading AI organisations Available Fellowship Workstreams Applicants may be considered for multiple research streams, including: • AI Safety Fellows • AI Security Fellows • ML Systems & Performance Fellows • Reinforcement Learning Fellows • Economics Fellows • Policy and Society Fellows Key Responsibilities Depending on the selected workstream, fellows may: • Conduct empirical AI research projects • Build and evaluate machine learning systems and large language models • Develop reinforcement learning environments and algorithms • Research AI safety, alignment, and robustness methods • Design studies examining AI’s economic and societal impacts • Build infrastructure and systems supporting large-scale AI research • Produce technical reports, papers, and public research outputs • Collaborate closely with researchers and mentors across disciplines Eligibility Requirements Applicants should: • Demonstrate strong technical skills in computer science, mathematics, physics, economics, social sciences, cybersecurity, or related fields • Be fluent in Python programming • Be available to work full-time for four months • Thrive in collaborative and fast-paced environments • Communicate ideas clearly and effectively • Be motivated to contribute to safe and beneficial AI development Importantly, applicants do not need a PhD or previous research experience to apply. Preferred Qualifications Strong candidates may possess: • Experience with machine learning or empirical research projects • Experience with large language models and deep learning frameworks • Software engineering and systems development skills • Open-source project contributions • Cybersecurity, penetration testing, or vulnerability research experience • Economics or public policy research experience • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Logistics and Work Authorisation To participate in the programme, candidates must: • Have work authorisation in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada • Be physically located in one of these countries during the fellowship • Be able to commit to the four-month full-time programme Anthropic is currently unable to sponsor visas for fellows , and applicants must independently obtain the necessary work authorisation.
